ST BRIGID’S CAMINO WALK, MONDAY 5TH FEBRUARY 2024.

St. Brigid is reputed to have been born in the Townland of Umeras, just outside Monasterevin, Co. Kildare.

This year a new Bank Holiday to honour St. Brigid took place on Monday 5th February.

To commemorate Brigid, Monasterevin Parish have organised a Camino Walk in her honour. Starting at St. Brigid’s Shrine at Mountrice W34X529 on the Monasterevin – Rathangan Road  (R414) at 11am on Monday 5th February (walk is approx. 6km). Car parking was provided at Mountrice Cross.

The walk was led by Bishop Denis Nulty via Umeras then along the New Canal Blue Way, and finished in Sts. Peter & Paul Church Monasterevin with a Service of Light at 12.30pm.

All those who participated were issued with a special St. Brigid Camino Passport that was stamped at Sts. Peter & Paul Church and were given a Certificate to say they have completed the Camino.

St. Brigid’s Crosses & refreshments were provided on the day.
